Gamja Bawi Korean Restaurant
About This Spot
Stepping into Gamja Bawi Korean Restaurant feels like entering a humble, steadfast nook nestled within the Koreatown Plaza food court. Despite the buzz of shoppers and the steady pace of foot traffic, this spot carries a quiet rhythm of its own—a thoughtful, unhurried space where familiar scents of simmering broths and sizzling spices weave through the air. It's not flashy or polished in a modern sense, but there’s undeniable warmth found in the earnestness of each dish coming fresh from the kitchen.
The atmosphere is casual and inviting, the kind of place where locals and visitors alike pause for a satisfying meal that feels grounded and real. There’s a shared understanding here: good Korean food doesn’t need to shout to make its mark. It quietly delivers comfort through generous portions and authentic flavors, comforting bowls of rich stews, hearty rice dishes cooked with care, and small side plates that invite sharing and slow savoring.
At Gamja Bawi, meals are crafted to be more than nourishment—they are moments of calm amid the city’s pace, with each serving reflecting a dedication to tradition and a sense of home. The experience embraces those who appreciate food made on the spot, with the kind of depth and soul that can take a little extra time but never feels rushed or compromised.
This is a spot where you might find yourself lingering longer than intended, drawn in by the pleasing warmth of bibimbap bubbling in its stone pot, the satisfying tangle of japchae, or a subtly spicy broth that invites you to slow down and enjoy every bite. It’s a quiet celebration of Korean flavors and the everyday moments they enrich—unpretentious, welcoming, and true to the heart of the neighborhood.

Great place to eat authentic Korean food. Located in the food court on the ground floor of the shopping center opposite the entrance to H Mart

Don't really understand the negative reviews.. it's not pricey when compared to other restaurants in ktown and the quality of food is the same. I got the goat soup and the meat was tender, the soup base was flavorful, and the price reasonable!

This place had AMAZING Dolsot Bibimbap. The portion sizes are MASSIVE, the food came out hot and fresh. The only thing is, it took a while to come out but I think that’s because they make it on the spot and the taste was definitely worth the wait. It’s a place in the koreatown plaza mall, and I’d say the koreatown plaza food court is a pretty good court court compared to other food courts in ktown. I would probably share a dish with someone else if you’re getting gamja bawi because I wasn’t able to finish everything. But it definitely tasted authentic and it was just super flavorful. A bit in the pricier side though but since portions are big it makes sense.

The Bibimbap is so good. Not much meat at all (ONE OUNCE) but the meal includes soup and kimchee.

Located inside the Koreatown Plaza food court and often a queue during busy hours. The fish stew was pretty good with good amount of fish. $18.
